Schedule a Portal Credentials Action
Use the Scheduler's Portal Credentials Action to create Portal login credentials for Customers on a scheduled basis. When you schedule a Portal Credentials Action, you define:
- Search Group: Search Group that contains the Customers who need login credentials.
- Field with login ID: Which field in the Customer Business Object contains the Customers’ login IDs.
- Customer group: The security group the Customers belong to.
- Password: Options for setting Customer passwords.
- Account details: Account settings such as password expiration and password resets.
- E-mail: How to notify Customers of credential information.
Good to know:
- To import Users from LDAP and then create Portal credentials, scheduler an Import from LDAP Action followed by a Portal Credentials Action that executes a few minutes later, ensuring the order of the steps.

To schedule a Portal Credentials Action:
Open the Scheduler.- Click the Add button.
The Schedule Item Properties window opens.
- Click the Action page.
- In the Action drop-down, select Portal Credentials.

- Define general properties:
- Search Group: Click the Ellipses button
to open the Search Group Manager, and then select an existing Search Group or create a new one that contains the Customers who need Portal credentials (ex: Internal Customers). - Field with Login ID: In the drop-down, select the field from the Customer Business Object that contains the Customers’ login IDs.
- Customer Group: In the drop-down, select the Security Group the Customers belong to. This defines the security rights for the Portal Credential action. Selecting the Portal Workgroup Manager Group offers greater control than selecting the Portal Customer Group.
- Define password options:
- Randomly generate a password for each customer: Select this radio button to assign and e-mail a random password to each Customer. If a Customer does not have an e-mail address, she will not be notified.
- Set password the same for all: Select this radio button to assign the same password to all Customers, and then provide the password to use.
- Password is value from field: Select this radio button to use the value from a field as the password, and then select the field in the drop-down.
- Set Login ID field as Windows/LDAP login: Select this radio button to use Windows/LDAP login credentials, and then select an option for determining a domain if the login ID does not include one:
- Define e-mail notification options:
- Click OK.
