Create a Preventive Maintenance Schedule

Use the CI Form in the CSM Desktop Client to define when the maintenance will take place.

Note: This functionality is only available if you have applied the Configuration Item Preventive Maintenance mApp. For more information, refer to the mApp Tech Notes documentation.

To create a Preventive Maintenance schedule:

  1. Open the CMDB (Tools>CMDB) and select the CI for which the scheduled maintenance will be applied (ex: Mail Server).

The CI opens in the Main Pane.

  2. Click the CI PM Schedule tab in the Form Arrangement.
  3. Click the New CI PM Schedule button.
Note: If you are defining a maintenance schedule for a Software License, the tab is named Renewal Schedules.

A prompt opens in a new window.

    Preventive Maintenance - Requirement Prompt

    1. Select a defined maintenance requirement from the list (ex: Archive E-mail).

Note: This prompt refers to the CI Asset Type Preventive Maintenance Requirements that you created during the configuration of the mApp. If you did not define maintenance requirements for the CI, click Cancel to create a maintenance requirement on-the-fly.

    2. Click OK.

The Preventive Maintenance Requirement Form opens in the Form Arrangement.

Note: The Preventive Maintenance Requirement Form autopopulates with information from the CI Asset Preventive Maintenance Requirement Lookup Table. However, you can edit the Form in the Form Arrangement without affecting the CI Asset Preventive Maintenance Requirement Lookup Table, if necessary.

  4. Define the schedule for the Preventive Maintenance requirement.
    1. Start Date: Click the Date Selector button Date Picker Button to access the Calendar, and then select the date in which maintenance should begin.

Notes: This field is a required field. The start date must be within the defined Timeframe (Business Hours).

    2. End Date: Click the Date Selector button Date Picker Button to access the Calendar, and then select the date in which the maintenance should end.

      Note: This field is optional.

After the schedule is defined, a Task is automatically created.
