Use the Update a Business Object Action to update the value of any Field in the active Business Object. For example, click a link on an Incident to update its status to a selected value or set value (ex: Closed).
Note: This Action is only available if the One-Step is associated with a Business Object when it is created.
To define an Update a Business Object Action:
The Update Business Object window opens.
Note: Reloading might be necessary if the Business Object is changed behind the scenes. If you select this check box, the Business Object will be refreshed from the database so that the Action updates the latest version of the Business Object. This is sometimes required when doing things like creating objects (in other Actions) that are not seen by the main object. For example, you might step through related objects and create a Journal for each associated Configuration Item. Because those Journals were not created through the Relationship between your main object and the Journals, they would not be considered part of the record until the Business Object is reloaded.
Tip: Use the Search Control to quickly locate a Field whose Name and Description contain a specific word or phrase (ex: OwnedBy). Use the Ignore Folders button
to ignore the organizational folders and display all Fields at the root of the list.
Note: If the Field is validated, the Legal Values button is available to allow selection of a valid value.
Important: The Business Object will not be saved if required Fields do not have a value, or if Field validation fails.
