Define a Create a Business Object Action for a One-Step
Use the Create a Business Object Action to create any Business Object that is allowed in One-Steps. For example, use a One-Step to automatically create a Problem using values from the active Incident Record.
To define a Create a Business Object Action:
- Create a One-Step.
- On the General page in the One-Step window (accessed from within the One-Step Manager), click Add, and then select Create Business Object.
The Create Business Object window opens.

- Define general properties for the Create a Business Object Action:
- Name: Provide a display name for the Action (this is how the Action is identified in the One-Step interface).
- Business Object: In the drop-down, select the type of Business Object to be created.
Tip: The drop-down displays only Major objects. To display all CSM Business Objects, select the Show All check box.
- Make New Record Current: Select this check box to make the newly created Business Object the active record after the Create a New Business Object Action is executed. This allows you to edit the record immediately after it is created.
Note: If this check box is not selected, the record is created in the background and does not appear on the screen.
- Link to Parent: Select this check box to link the new Business Object to an existing Business Object. Then, select a Relationship that links the two Business Objects.
- Define what the Create a Business Object Action should do with the Fields within the Business Object:
Tip: Use the Search Control
to quickly locate a Field whose Name and Description contain a specific word or phrase (ex: OwnedBy). Use the Ignore Folders button
to ignore the organizational folders and display all Fields at the root of the list.
- Fields Tree: Shows all of the available Fields for the Business Object. Select a Field, and then select one of the following options:
- Append to Current Value: Select this check box to have the Action append a Set Value or Template Value to any default value that was set on the Field.
- Define other behaviors for the Create a Business Object Action:
- Click OK.
