Create a Relationship Using the Relationship Wizard

The Relationship Wizard is the most convenient way to create new Relationships. When you create a Relationship using the Relationship Wizard, you define:

To create a Relationship using the Relationship Wizard:

  1. Open the Relationship Editor.
  2. Click the Wizard button.

    The Relationship Wizard opens.

  3. Click Next.

    The Select Child in Relationship page opens.

  4. In the drop-down, select a child Business Object:
  5. Click Next.

    The Relationship Cardinality page opens.

  6. Select how the parent object relates to the child:
  7. Click Next.

    The Reverse Relationship page opens.

  8. Select whether the child object should have a Relationship back to the parent.
  9. Click Next.

    The Reverse Relationship Cardinality page opens.

    Note: This page only appears if you selected Yes on the Reverse Relationship page.

  10. Select how the child object relates back to the parent:
  11. Click Next.

    The Link Parent to Child page opens.

    Note: This page will not appear if you created a many-to-many Relationship. Many-to-many Relationships are linked using join tables.

  12. Select how to link the parent object to the child object. This is done by having one object hold the RecID of the related object.
  13. Click Next.
  14. The Group Leader page opens.

    Note: This page only appears if you selected a Group Leader as the child object.

  15. Define whether to create a particular Group Member record by default when the Relationship creates a new child object record.
  16. Click Next.

    The Full-Text Search for Child page opens.

    Note: This page only appears if you selected to create a reverse Relationship, and if the child object has Full-Text search enabled in its Search Results properties.

  17. Select whether to search the child object when a Full-Text search is run on the parent object and its related items:

    If you created a reverse Relationship, and the child object has Full-Text search enabled in its Search Results properties, you will also be asked whether to search the parent object when a Full-Text search is run on the child object and its related items:

  18. Click Next.

    The Name Relationship page opens.

  19. Provide a name and description for the Relationship. This is how the Relationship is identified in the Relationship Editor and throughout the system.

    Note: You will also be asked to provide a name and description for the reverse Relationship if you selected to create one.

  20. Click Next.

    The Summary page opens.

  21. Click Finish.

    The Relationship is added to the Business Object and is displayed in the Relationship Editor.

  22. Publish the Blueprint (File>Publish Blueprint) to commit the changes, or save the Blueprint (File>Save Blueprint) to continue making other changes.
