Upgrading

CSM provides the elements and tools needed to successfully upgrade your system. Upgrading system components and installing system components usually follow the same procedures. Refer to installation steps where directed to perform upgrades.

  • About Upgrading CSM
    There are two tools to help you complete upgrades. The installer wizards walk through the steps to upgrade or install the Server, Web Applications, and Desktop Client. The Auto-Deploy configuration helps set up the Auto-Deploy tool.
  • Before Upgrading CSM
    Before you upgrade CSM, take steps to learn about important changes to in the new release.
  • The Upgrade Process
    Upgrading your CSM system requires three distinct installers. You may also optionally configure Auto-Deploy as part of the upgrade process.
  • Upgrading Remote Servers
    If you install CSM server applications on remote servers, you must upgrade each server application when you upgrade CSM. This includes the Scheduling Server, the Automation Process Server, the Trusted Agents Server, and the Configuration Scheduling Server.
  • Upgrading the Cherwell Server
  • System Upgrade Tool
    The System Upgrade tool is a stand-alone database tool that allows a system administrator to upgrade a CSM Database to a new version. This program usually runs automatically when a new version of CSM is loaded.
